The second edition of the Women Entrepreneur Awards (WEA) was held on June 11 at The Ritz Carlton Singapore, where 14 female entrepreneurs in Singapore were honoured for their contributions to the community.
As one of 14 outstanding women from various industries, ranging from healthcare and education to offshore oil and gas engineering, Ms Jayne Nadarajoo was recognised for her excellence and contribution to both the business and social community.
Ms Jayne has grown White Lodge to 7 successful centres in Singapore, and 2 in Malaysia, from the humble beginnings of opening the first White Lodge at Linden Drive in Bukit Timah in 1999.
Guest of Honour, Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister, Ministry of Manpower and Second Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs, who was present at the WEA gala to give out awards, comments, “I am pleased to join a room of exceptional women tonight, in celebrating their achievements and contributions to the economy. Women in Singapore have achieved much. Today, more doors have opened for our generation of women to reach their fullest potential. But the challenge has shifted from a lack of career opportunity to a lack of support at home, and we as society believe that women should have the ability to pursue their dreams without having to compromise. Therefore, the Singapore Government is committed to empowering women through choice.”
The Women Entrepreneur Awards was started with the mission to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of women in Singapore and has announced that it will be expanding into ASEAN by 2019 with a vision to empower women owners in Asia, through the creation of WEA Club where all winners will join the club to provide a closer network for support and inspiration to emerging future entrepreneurs.
